Coping with trauma & post traumatic stress disorder

Module I: What happens when we are traumatised?
Learn what happens physiologically to a person when one is exposed to trauma or stress - acutely or chronically. Evaluate your chronic stress levels & consider how it is affecting you. On completion, you will:

  • Understand the physiological reaction which takes place in your body when you are exposed to any kind of trauma
  • Understand the effect of everyday events on your health & well being
  • Understand the long-term effects of acute or chronic trauma/stress on our health & well being

Module II: What is post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?
Understand the signs & symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, what causes it, how to prevent it, treat it & what the prognosis for recovery is. Different methods of treatment are discussed briefly.

Module III: Cognitive behavioural techniques - the toolkit for preventing and treating PTSD.
An introduction of the development & underlying theory of this useful technique is explained with several everyday examples. Self-awareness about personal perceptions & the influence there-of is taught & discussed.

The techniques of cognitive behavioural techniques are taught in detail. On completion, you will:

  • Understand the theory & application of cognitive behavioural techniques
  • Be able to change your life for ever by applying this useful tool in all spheres of your life.
  • Be able to understand your own & other's behaviour & how it is affected by your thoughts
